It started 2 years ago when I acquired two coupes from Christchurch The worst one was imported from Australia in Feb 1974 with 24,000 km. It was a 1972 Chassis number 1047563. It had an engine and gearbox transplant in 1991 with a Datsun 100A motor and gearbox the whole car is very rough and is good as parts only.

The second car is the good one, it is a 1971 imported into NZ in Sep 1973 from Singapore with 17,800 miles when imported. The Speedo is in miles not km like the other one and the oil pressure is in pounds per square inch.

The original owner was a member of the RNZAF stationed in Singapore from Aug 1971 to Aug 1973 as part of a tri nations called ANZUK. He bought the car not long after he got there about Sep/Oct 1971. He had to own it for two years after he brought it back home. That way he didn't have to pay any duty. Many servicemen did this. That car has made several journeys into Malaysia on both coasts and one time on a holiday right up the east coast of Malaya into Thailand as far north as Chang Mai. Then back into Malaysia via the west coast to Singapore.

It was shipped as deck cargo back to New Zealand, fortunately did not suffer for it. Peter Shaw used to own this car in 1983 and it was orange then I have totally striped this car down to the last nut and bolt I have had the body bead blasted and under coated and it is getting a total ground up rebuild. The photo with mag wheels is from 1983 and the second one is just before I started stripping the car. The third one is when I was striping the car and body shell is mounted in a frame I made to rotate the shell for working on it.
