I traded in an older Mini for yet another rare (at the time) front wheel drive car and everyone thought I was crazy. Of course, now almost all cars are front wheel drive. The price new was $2989.00. I couldn't afford the more expensive Coupe 9. It was my daily driver for about 6 years along with a Honda 350 cab forward truck. In 1978, I bought a new Toyota truck and the Honda Coupe became my 'second' car. I did have it checked and repaired bumper to bumper in the early '80's and I changed rings once. In the early 1990's, I did a top engine rebuild, i.e. replaced pistons and rings, valve grind etc. and that has been it for repairs in 32 years.

When I moved to Canada in 1993, I was prompted by people in Canada to bring the car with me so it was loaded into the container with our household goods. It has gained Collector Plate status in British Columbia which gives me very low insurance rates and I drive it in the summer months only. Quite a crowd gathers when I have it on the road and they all wonder how one drives a right-hand drive car with a stick shift......
