General condition (Original, Restored, Complete, parts, etc) | It’s generally in very good
condition, especially the interior which looks almost new except for a couple of fine cracks in the dash top
(that have now been fixed). It’s very original except for having been re-painted — and it’s complete and rust free.
All the glass is original and in great condition. Even the bright trim around the front & rear windows is in quite good
condition. However, the boot floor area had surface rust that I’ve now eliminated. I’m presently improving the engine
bay as various components need to be re-plated or re-painted. The car was obviously well looked after for 11 years or
so before being traded-in on a new Honda — and then incredibly it ended up in storage for about 34 years. Bumpers, door
handles & taillight bezels though could do with re-chroming (as at Feb 2020). The bumpers are perfectly straight with
no dents. The boot rubber needs replacing as it seems to have swollen, making the boot lid sit a bit higher than the
body. I think it would be ideal to see the car re-painted in the original light silver. |

Sold new in 1972 — and traded-in at a Sydney Honda dealership around 1983/1984 .
The dealership fitted a new exhaust & new tyres and had it re-sprayed (in a darker silver). The dealership principal
decided it was the perfect example to keep and so put the car into storage at his home — where it remained unused for
about 34 years until Sept 2018.
The dealership principal passed away a year or so it seems prior to Sept 2018 and the Honda formed part of his estate.
The estate sold the Honda to a family friend, Craig O’Meara, in Sept 2018. Craig, with some help, ‘dragged' the car out
of the deceased’s garage. Craig got the car home and gradually checked the mechanicals over and got the engine "running
like a sewing machine”.
Craig eventually decided to sell the Honda as he collects a different marque — and I am now the new ‘custodian’.
I had wanted a 1300 Coupe in the 1970’s, when I was in my 20’s, as I was interested in it from an engineering perspective
and I loved the styling too. Now I believe it can be seen as being a very significant model in the Honda story.
